Our kuleana

Aloha Modern began as an ocean lifestyle brand, so it’s only fitting that we play a role in raising and inspiring the next generation of ocean ambassadors. Our vision is to instill values of respect and sustainability in Hawaiʻi’s youth, empowering them to protect our oceans.

As part of our commitment to this mission, we are thrilled to support a series of keiki surf contests across Hawaiʻi! These contests offer young surfers a chance to showcase their talents, creativity, and passion for the ocean.

Through their participation, keiki learn valuable lessons in teamwork, sportsmanship, and community engagement. They are also encouraged to embrace Hawaiʻi’s rich history as the birthplace of surfing, while understanding the importance of preserving our land and oceans for future generations. By celebrating their dedication and achievements, we aim to inspire a sense of pride and responsibility that ensures this legacy continues.

Micah DeSoto

Ocean Clinic Coordinator | Surfer | Father

Micah, 26, is a surfer, navigator, and waterman. Micah is an engaged community member and serves as an Ocean Clinic Coordinator for the non-profit, Nā Kama Kai, where he spearheads all event planning and coordination.

Puamakamae DeSoto

Professional Surfer | College Student

19-year-old Pua is a professional surfer who holds 9 national titles and 12 state titles while balancing school, relationships, and cultural advocacy. Currently, Pua attends Pepperdine University. 

Ilihia Huddleston

Professional Athlete | Hawaiʻi Beach Volleyball Club Founder & Head Coach

Ilihia, 22, is a former Division 1 athlete on the University of Hawaiʻi's Women's Beach Volleyball team. Passionate about Hawaiian culture, she graduated with a B.A. in Hawaiian Knowledge.
